The group felt that there were a few good points to the book- personally, as a teen who grew up loving Shakespeare’s comedies, I always enjoy a good trousers role. There are a few road blocks along the way, a nefarious relative, and a lot of very spicy scenes. Charity hates lying about her identity when love is on the line, but needs the charade to last a little longer which is difficult with such intense chemistry. The problem is, serious sparks begin to fly with her acquaintance Alistair, Marquess of Pembroke. Charity- or Robert Selby- enjoys the freedoms that come with being a man even though she knows her role is temporary. This is the story of Charity Church, a former housemaid masquerading as her deceased- and male- employer in order to act as his younger sister’s guardian.
